MTA Introduces Modular Chillers and Heat Pumps with Low-GWP

 

Even 300 kW of heating and 320 kW of cooling capacity in less than 9 m² of footprint.
 
Conselve (PD), Italy, May 25, 2025 - MTA®, a leading provider of cooling solutions for buildings and industrial processes, acquired by Trane Technologies, has introduced GEMINI, a new series of modular chillers and heat pumps using scroll compressor technology. Designed for HVAC systems requiring high flexibility and scalability, the new ranges deliver higher efficiency, lower noise, improved reliability and greater installation flexibility for cooling and heating applications. All GEMINI units feature R454B, a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant.
 
Compared with legacy models, the new GEMINI chiller range delivers a 15% improvement in energy efficiency ratio (EER), up to 19% higher seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER), and up to 18% higher seasonal energy performance ratio for high-temperature process cooling (SEPR HT). Eurovent certification further strengthens its credentials for demanding cooling applications.

The GEMINI heat pumps provide year-round hot and cold water with temperatures reaching of up to 60°C. Compared with legacy models, the new units deliver SCOP improvements of up to 18% and SEER gains of 20% to 50%.

Each MTA GEMINI module measures just 1.1 m wide and 2.7 m or 3.7 m long, making it well suited to space-constrained installations and retrofit projects. Scalable system configurations and an optional hydraulic connection kit allow up to six units to be connected on-site, delivering heating capacity from 84 to 900 kW and cooling capacity from to 87 kW to more than 1 MW.

Independent unit operation helps provide the redundancy required for mission-critical applications, while the Symbio®500 controller for multi-unit management enables cascade control, pump management and diagnostic functions. For noise-sensitive applications, the XXLN low-noise reduces sound levels by up to 6 dB(A) compared to the standard version, without compromising on unit performance.
