MTA Expands Industrial Cooling Portfolio with Aries N Deep Freezing Chiller for Temperatures Down to -30°C

New packaged R290 screw compressor chiller delivers reliable, high efficiency performance, and extends MTA’s end-to-end offer for low-temperature process cooling and cold storage applications.

Conselve (PD), Italy - MTA^®, a leading provider of cooling solutions for buildings and industrial processes, acquired by Trane Technologies, has launched the Aries N Deep Freezing (ASN DF), a packaged screw compressor chiller designed to deliver leaving fluid temperatures down to -30°C. The new units use non-ozone-depleting and zero global warming potential (GWP) R290 refrigerant.

The new range expands MTA’s industrial cooling portfolio for customers requiring reliable, efficient deep-freezing performance across applications in food and beverage, refrigerated warehouses, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. With capacities up to 360 kW, the Aries N Deep Freezing provides a standardised, factory-engineered packaged alternative to bespoke NH₃ or CO₂ solutions, combining high capacity, efficiency, and low-temperature capability in a single solution. This helps reduce project complexity compared with custom-built systems, while providing the reassurance of MTA engineering, application expertise, and lifecycle support.

MTA’s expanded deep-freezing chiller capabilities and whole-system approach to thermal management strengthen its role as a strategic partner to industrial customers advancing decarbonisation across their operations.

Key features of the Aries N Deep Freezing:

• Seven sizes in single- and dual-circuit configurations and capacities up to 360 kW
• Each circuit features one variable frequency drive (VFD) screw compressor, and the units incorporate a microchannel condenser and brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE) evaporator.
• The operating map covers leaving fluid temperatures from -12°C to -30°C and ambient conditions from -20°C to +46°C.
• The range is also SEPR-LT compliant, meeting applicable seasonal efficiency requirements for low-temperature applications
• To support safe operation with R290, the unit includes SDS²E safety features comprising Segregation box, Leak Detector, Stop, Signal and Gas Expulsion Fan.
